Based on his forthcoming book of the same title, in this talk Kevin leads people through what he calls "the four strands of creativity" and explains that "yes" is an action not a word. He demonstrates how acts of art are rituals that can be used to practice "conscious creativity."
Beyond Pretty to Empowered: a Talk for Women
The challenges for women are different from men when discussing and practicing creativity. Kevin directly addresses the stereotypical role of craft and art in the lives of modern women and suggests that instead of the dominant message that women are to be "pretty" and to "make pretty" craft and art are actually important lessons in self empowerment.

Through socialization that includes such embedded prejudices as homophobia, anti - sexuality, and shame, men are conditioned to shun the practices that would otherwise strengthen their greatest and deepest resources. In this talk Kevin leads men through the dark rafters of their socialization and into a discussion of living empowered lives through conscious creativity. For a man, the ritual of creating a flower arrangement can become a radical act of initiation.
